Please see the Important Notice Below regarding data backup/recovery

Important Notice:

Per the UMC INFORMATION POLICY - SECTION 4.4.2, ( http://dis.umc.edu/docs_forms/InformationSecurityPolicy.pdf ) the end-user is responsible for the backup and recovery of all files stored on any Local Drives. The Computer's Local drives are: C: Drive, D: Drive and E: Drive.

Effective Tuesday, January 2, 2007, the Division of Information Systems (DIS) will no longer attempt to recover any files stored on any Local Drives.

DIS recommends storing important/final documents on network drives such as your U: Drive or Shared Drives. DIS performs systematic nightly backups of these Network Drives. If adequate space is not available on network drives for your data, DIS recommends backing up and storing your data to removable media such as CD, DVD or thumb drives. For more information and best practices on backing up data, please refer to the following link.
